PA security head: security only after statehood
Jibril Rajoub, head of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service in the West Bank, said this morning that the Palestinian Authority would only renew security coordination with Israel after ”Israel ended the occupation and an independent Palestinian state is established.”
Rajoub was speaking prior to the tripartite security meeting to be held today in Cairo.
Muhammad Dahlan, head of Palestinian security in the Gaza Strip, agreed to attend the consultations only after a personal request from PA Chairman Yasser Arafat.
Minister of Transport and former Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, IDF Planning Branch head, Maj.-Gen. Shlomo Yanai and General Security Service director Avi Dichter are attending the meeting.
CIA director George Tennet, and head of West Bank security, Tawfik Tirawi are also taking part in the discussions.
